Here are the pieces after blasting. Everything went pretty smooth. I didn't remove the sights, just covered. I feel better when I have the proper sight removal tool before removing them. Maybe if he was a paying customer and not just somone I owed money too ;)

I asked Sean to photoshop a pic to mess with John since he told me I could do whatever I wanted, as long as it looked "cool". Here area couple of pics We took.

I wish I had a camera with me when I showed him the pics, he actually thought I was going to do it pink...lol! After threatening to punch me in my nuts he said I better make it look awesome, especially if I was doing it pink! Don't no one wanna get shot by a pink gun! After Me and Keith laughing our asses off, I had to show him the actual frame. Here it is.

I finally got help in learning how to post NEW posts. Thanks Sean.

Here is a Beretta I did for my friend John. It is my first. I think it turned out well. I had no problems stripping and blasting in one day and coating (duracoat) the following weekend. Putting the thing back together was not bad either. The only problem I had was installing that damn mag release and Safety but thanks to the guntech guys DVDs and Seans quick thinking It was a snap...literally :) Here are the pics of the process. I will get some before pics but beleive me, it was USED well.

Another day at the shop. This week I am refurbishing my friend Johns Beretta 92 FS. No before pics but trust me, It needed it. I will be posting pics tomorrow.

Here is a finished USED G3 Magazine That has been modified to fit into my CETME. It just took a little elbow grease, some grinding and a little Duracoat and Viola! Here we are. I thingthe next ones will be done in Coyote, OD or Black.

Here you can see the area where it was modified to fit into the CETME and the other is the completed mag all ready for action (after it cures of course)!

Here is a view from the top of the same magazines. I thing they turned out awesome. I will get pics of everything put together soon!

Preperaring and finishing CETME, G3 furniture.

Here is what I was working on this Thursday. CETME Black Widow furniture. Here it is after a good sand blast. In the back ground is a 12 gauge getting ready for a fresh coat, It has a digital pattern, will be ACU when completed.

Here above are both my M4 and CETME rifles. Sorry for the layout, I am just getting used to using this site. Hopefully it will get better.

Here is my M4a3 build. I love this rifle. I will add more pictures when I find them. Here it is completed on the shop bench. Everything went smooth. This is my second M4 but my first build. It has a Doublestar lower, DPMS upper with a 1:9 twist, 6 position collapsible stock, Yankee Hill flip up front site removable rear site aperture which will soon be replaced by a YH flip up site as well as scoped.

Here is one of my G3 magazines I had to work on with the ol' grinder so it would fit in my mag well of the CETME. They show some wear and of course where I had to grind them down but I will be giving them all a fresh duracoat soon. I'm thinking FN green to match the furniture. I will also be blasting the metal on the CETME and giving it a new black coat also.

Novice but learning...

I am a novice at blogging, this will be my first. I have a good friend who has a gunsmiths business in Leon, Iowa (www.galtsguns.com). Although I have been around guns for most my life I was never really taught more than how to shoot and clean them by my Marine Corps father. Them being .22's and a 30-06. I want this blog to contain information I will be gathering while working (if you can call it that) in my friend, Sean's shop 2 days a week. The guns I own and know pretty well are 1 AR 5.56 M4a3 Doublestar lower, with a DPMS upper I built and a Century Arms 7.62x51 (.308) CETME. I love both of these rifles but I LOVE the CETME...The smell, the push the look of it is awesome and want another one!

My favorite thing to do in the shop right now is taking things apart clean them, sand blast them and get them ready for a nice fresh duracoat. So far I have only done battle rifle magazines and some hand gun slides, frames and some rifle stocks. I am getting ready to duracoat my synthetic stock set for my CETME. I have also purchased a used German G3 stock set from Cheaper than Dirt for $9.00. It is pretty dinged up but I am planning on adding a new texture to the set to cover up the dings and then duracoat it FN green and black. I am sure with the help of Sean we will get this thing looking near new! I will get pictures on here as soon as possible.
